Helping students Dare to Dream - Kreston Reeves & St Philip Howard Catholic School

This year Kreston Reeves have continued to support LoveLocalJobs Foundation’s Dare to Dream Programme by supporting the students at St Phillip Howard Catholic School in West Sussex. This programme helps to provide young people with experiences and tools that will help them fulfil their potential.

Dare to Dream focuses on the core themes of self-awareness, mindset, gratitude, resilience, teamwork and employability. Their people attend in school mentoring sessions and participate in the student office visits. During these sessions the volunteers mentor up to three students each, sharing their own journeys and workplace insights, listening to and helping to build the student’s confidence.

Recently Kreston Reeves invited the students from the St Phillip Howard Catholic School to their Chichester office to take part in a workplace visit to help them gain confidence both personally and professionally. The group of 15 students, accompanied by their teachers and a representative from the Love Local Jobs Foundation, were shown around the office, where they were able to gain insight into Kreston Reeves' working environment and learn how they could become an accountant or work within the financial services industry in the future.

The students took part in a themed quiz, attended a talk by Chay Took, Partner at Kreston Reeves, and a variety of team building exercises and challenges throughout the day. The activities aimed to help equip them with the confidence, critical thinking and team-work skills needed for them to reach their full potential in future working environments.

The team that mentored and supported the students, were:

  • Robert Beasley, Partner

  • Annemarie Fern, Audit Manager

  • Christopher Gregory, IT Trainer

  • Phoebe Towner, Private Client Tax Semi Senior

  • Wendy Bamford, Audit Director

Wendy Bamford, Audit Director and SDG lead for ‘Quality education’, commented: “The team here at Kreston Reeves are always so willing to get involved with the Dare to Dream Programme. It’s an opportunity for our people to use their own experiences and expertise to help motivate the upcoming generation of students, providing them with advice, guidance and skills for the future. The impact that these days have on the students, as well as on our staff, are the reason why we’re so passionate about continuing our involvement with the LoveLocalJobs Foundation and supporting this programme”.
