Southern Water is supporting students from Bohunt Worthing School by taking part in Dare to Dream, an inspirational programme created by the Love Local Jobs Foundation in partnership with Adur and Worthing Councils, which aims to support the self-awareness, resilience, employability skills and wellbeing of young people.
Delivered around core themes of self-awareness, mindset, gratitude, resilience, teamwork and employability, inspirational speaker, Jack the Lad, the well-known former host of the Breakfast Show on Heart FM, who is now on air with More Radio and business volunteers from Southern Water use their own experiences to drive and motivate young people.
The programme is taking place over the spring and summer term with multiple interactions of inspirational assemblies to the year 9 students and further workshops and mentoring for a cohort of students to help give them the confidence they need to fulfil their potential.
Headteacher at Bohunt Worthing School, Adam Whitehead commented,
“It was wonderful to be able to welcome back 'Jack the Lad' to Bohunt School Worthing, he last visited us in 2019. Once again, his talk was engaging and really captured our students' attention and encouraged them to reflect and think about their role, purpose and direction within the world.
“The Dare to Dream collaboration with Southern Water provides an excellent opportunity for our students to meet business mentors and experience communicating with adults from the business sector whilst thinking about their future career plans. The follow-up sessions will really help give students a focus to consolidate their plans for life after high school.”
